Uncertainty - Jonathan Fields

Paris Carla Coulson

Thanks to everybody yesterday who responded to my post about 'What's wrong with your life'. There was so much action of twitter, facebook, email that I thought this post may help those of you who are feeling uncertain about your choices.

What is there to be uncertain about in life? Almost everything. Love, work, money, happiness, new career, changing your life and getting started in whatever you are in to!

Add to that a life as a creative or freelancer and it can send a normal balanced person it to a spin.

Uncertainty can be grueling, it can be the difference between being a great success or walking away from a dream. It unbalances us and challenges our judgements. Author Jonathan fields puts into words the feelings, the process our body and mind goes through when we are uncertain and tells us how we can transform uncertainty into fuel for success! Love it..

He also gives tips on 'finding your certainty anchors, building your hive, training your brain. If anyone is thinking of taking the leap of faith into a new career, a new life or moving country you might enjoy Uncertainty.

  1. It is easy for people to feel uncertainty. Everyone has some dream, but most of us are programmed to avoid risk. When I was a kid I wanted to be a musician/composer and I really believed it would happen. But so many other kids around me would say "Why bother". General consensus was if it was artistic and involved a bit more personal risk then the pursuit was pointless. Those kids were no doubt repeating things that their parents said. We are all programmed with a certain way of thinking. So to pursue a dream can make someones brain go "does not compute". This of course is in my most unprofessional opinion.

  3. I so agree with Melissa, above...my dad discouraged me from studying art in college because it wasn't "practical". I've always regretted that I didn't have the courage (at the time) to go against everyone else's expectations of me. But there are obviously people out there who make it in the creative world, so why not me too? :)

  7. Hi Carla, It's a very important discussion that you have opened up in these last two posts. Your compassion for other artists is so evident by you sharing both sides of the story – the dream and the reality of how to make it happen. And that it CAN and DOES happen! xo – g

  8. Oh Carla, your wonderful photos make me want to change my life to live out my days in Paris.
That's 12,000 miles away for me and as I'm almost 3 score years + 10, it's not going to happen - c'est la vie!!
However I'm lucky as my DD lives in Burgundy so I can visit Paris quite often!
When I'm there I play my imaginary game that I'm a true Parisienne!!!

Very sage advice in your previous post - with good planning and enough money dreams can become reality.
I wish with all my heart that will happen for some of your readers!!
