Going Pro - Getting Noticed

Morning Lovelies,

I wanted to chat to you today about something close to my heart. I am continually asked about how to get noticed whilst starting your photography career. For those of you who have read some of my other posts you will be familiar with another of my suggestions which is getting published but another great way to get noticed is to win a prestigious photography prize.

A couple of years into my photography career I had the great fortune to meet fabulous Australian artist Tim Maquire one of Australia's most successful living artists. I thought Tim was young to be so successful and I couldn't help asking him how he did it.

Obviously his work is beautiful but having great work sometimes isn't enough. Tim won the prestigious Moet and Chandon Australian Art Fellowship just when he was about to pack up and leave Europe. This award changed his life and his career.

Not only does winning a prestigious photography award give you a financial benefit but it gives your work incredible publicity. All of a sudden the winning image is published in every newspaper and magazine and on blogs along with your name.

It's a chance to be super creative and get into image making in all the senses. There are three wonderful competitions of which two have imminent deadlines. I encourage you to enter as many competitions as you can if you want to get noticed!

As the Renaissance gang say EVERYONE HAS ONE GREAT PHOTO IN THEM!!
