Greece - White, Blue and Hot Pink

Copyright Carla Coulson for www.living4media.com

It seems like a half-a-minute a go I was wallowing in the water on a Greek Island thinking about my next meal in the local taverna! Now I am layered like the Michelin women combatting the Parisian cold huddled in front of a computer screen. It all seems too quick.

Five things I loooovvvveee about the Greek Islands

1. The Greek Island Aesthetic, white houses and blue details
2. The food, give me a stuffed capsicum or tomato anyday
3. The water.. Crystal clear blue blue blue
4. The people. I adore their relaxed approach to life
5. Villages with no cars just furry adorable donkeys

I love changing worlds it has to be one of the most inspiring things that happens to us as human beings and addicted travellers. You enter the new one with enthusiasm and love and return to the original one with love and enthusiasm!! And along the way you have collected so much beauty and knowledge.

Wishing you a colourful day..

Carla xx

  1. Looks beautiful! Were you on Santorini ? I have beautiful blue & white memories too, but they were over 20 years ago.... glad to know it is still the same beautiful place!

  2. Oh, Carla! The second Greece post I've stumbled on today! What is the universe trying to tell me? A reminder that by this time next year we'll have just returned from a trip, maybe. Or something more. I've been thinking about one of my favorite meals ever, which was at a farm in Greece many, many years ago. Can't wait to get back.

  4. Done Crete and Cephalonia a few times, but not the mainland. Lovely part of the world, and friendly people.

  8. Greece is definitely on the top of my travel wishlist.
I love walking through old towns, where there are no cars passing through! I think that's why I'm in love with medieval French/Italian cities-so charming and quaint.
I can just imagine how Greece can hypnotize a traveller.

  12. Hi Carla,
Oooh, so beautiful. I've been contemplating a trip to Greece next summer (only time I can go). This seals the deal for me! Do you recommend a particular island? I like what I see in your photos.

  13. Funny, now I am sweltering through the Queensland heat while longing to be heading into winter in Italia!

We take a little of each place with us as travelers! I remember the wild miniature cyclamen growing on the cliff walk to a tiny monastery in Greece with my Mum many years ago. I still see the hot fuschia pink of the flowers.

Maybe you could have a sip of ouzo to warm you up?

  14. Ohhh! You read my mind! I've been dreaming of heading back to Greece... sigh...

I agree with all your points, the colours, the food (the freshest seafood and oh, the olives, the saganaki... I'm getting hungry!), the bluest ocean I've ever seen, and the relaxed island life makes me feel lost in time.

  15. Stunningly beautiful. I often wonder about those houses on Greek islands and why everyone stuck to the same colour scheme which is fantastic. Is it some sort of regulation or tradition? Even the bougainvillea is in the right shade of red and pink. A gifted set designer couldn't do any better.

  16. Eeep, too beautiful! I really do wish and hope to visit the Greek islands one day. Totally breathtaking. And I absolutely agree with you about how you step into new places with such excitement and awe, and when you're headed back home, you head back with excitement and awe as well. Makes travelling really fun and amazing. Thanks for sharing, Carla! xx
