Portrait Inspiration - Josh Olins

Copyright Josh Olins

This image of model Malgosia Bela is a wonderful example of a powerful image created simply. The use of emotion, light, wonderful use of her arms, body language and a simple prop, a chair  - all together makes for powerful stuff. The way she grips the chair is as though she is gripping life itself. You can feel the strong connection between photographer and model. .

I love this photo, it is a great reminder that you can create a lot without necessarily having the worlds most incredible location,  lighting and troupe (helps having the world's most incredible model).

  1. Hi Carla, this is such intense beauty- I love shots like this and it goes without saying black and white tells so much more. Go to my blog for my latest photoshoot- "retro beach babe". I had so much fun styling and photographing this shoot- not to mention the swim in the ocean afterwards! I am so blessed to live in such a beautiful place xxCorrina.

  2. Oh my. This is so lovely. And so physical. I know this is off-subject but I also really find beauty in that for once, the model is not a match-stick, non?
