What We Need Is Love Everyday not Just on Valentine's Day

Today symbolises the day of love for so many people in the western world but love is important for all of us everyday of the year not just on Valentine's day. You can read here about my strange relationship with Valentines Day.

I love romance as much as anyone and love they say is just like a garden, you need to look after it everyday. Not 'water' it once a month and 'prune' it once a year. You need to nurture and take care of it otherwise like a garden  love can die.

For so many years I dreamed of finding someone to love and just when I thought all hope had vanished bingo! there he was tall dark and handsome across a not-so-crowded room better than my wildest dreams. I am living proof that love can come when you have given up or thrown the love-towel in forever. There is someone out there for all of us to love. Never give up and never give in.

Love has no seasons, no age limits, it isn't racist and when it takes you by surprise it flips your whole world upside down. All of sudden you are a teenager again with butterflies in your stomach and a grin from ear to ear skipping around singing to yourself floating on a summer wind.

So if a big bunch of roses or a box of chocolates doesn't arrive at your doorstep today don't despair there are another 364 days of the year.

What we need is love everyday!!

  1. Hear! Hear! I agree that expressions of love need not be concentrated only on Valentines Day. And love can be found at any stage in life. I have seen that happen. And it is nice to know that doors [and windows] are open to anyone no matter how young or old they are.

  3. I LOVE this...and it's so true. I had a similar experience; found love when I had just about given up. And it wasn't on Valentine's Day. :)

  4. I just love this post! It was the same with me when I met my husband 15 years ago...Love happens when you least expect it ~
And I agree everyday is a day to love and be loved.

  7. not only when you least expect it but often with whom. Nobody thought my husband and I were right for each other, turns out we balance perfectly, the dreamer and the realist.

I see those famous folk who marry one year and divorce the next and wonder what on earth they are doing?

Happy Valentines to all who have love and those searching for that special person.

  8. I shall tell my son your story Carla.........as he heads 2 hours away with a bouquet of flowers in his hand to meet a girl he talks to via the internet. I guess it is 2012! (I help by wrapping it up more special). The good news is his older, silly parents got him out of the house tonight! I know you and "dark and handsome" will have a wonderful Valentine's Day.......nothing wrong with a bit of extra. Much love to both of you. XO
PS. Yes to Paris this year.
