Tim Walker - Fashion + Colour Inspiration

Tim Walker has always been at the top of my list of one of the most creative fashion photographers of his time. Unlike most photographers Tim Walker gets in on the set design as well as hitting the shutter to create beautiful images. There is always a wonderful story in his images and lots of poetry.

A former of assistant of Richard Avedon (but was fired for letting Mr. Avedon fall off a ladder Whoops!) Tim Walker's photos have the all the elegance of a Richard Avedon but with a twist, big fantasy backdrops. I have followed his work since first discovering his breathtaking images in Italian Vogue and since bought his wonderful monography  Pictures. A world of fluffy bunny rabbits and Indian Palaces filled with balloons, of Woman coming out of enormous magazines and beds strung in trees. A feast on every page. I blogged about it back in 2008 when Pictures was released.

The above images were created for the new Mulberry campaign and shot at the fabulous Brighton pier in the Uk with Frida Gustavsson and Lindsey Wisxon. Anyone for an ice-cream?

    Never knew he got fired from Avedon - oh well 2 great artists in their own rights :) Love this Mulberry lollypop extravaganza - sooo what I need looking out on the snow. YAY:)

    I love sets and styling and I guess these are results of loving photography or perhaps it's the reverse of that. I love photography because I want to capture things I've styled/designed. Tim Walker definitely has a unique eye, and I am of the opinion that a photographer's creative eye can really show the more she has control over the set/subjects chosen.

    This is my childhood dream. I actually used to dream of living in a world made of giant ice creams, chocolates & candy haha! I guess I never thought about ants and stickiness....
