Paris Flea Market - Saint Ouen

If you are a flea market fanatic one of Europe's most fabulous markets is just a metro ride away from the centre of Paris. For the lovers of design, antiques, art, vintage and jewellery this mini world of magic is street after street of stalls selling every imaginable bauble that man has made throughout the eras.

From glamour to rustic the Marché aux puces Saint Ouen demands a day trip for the serious seeker.

  2. My husband an I spent two days walking the stalls.........I still regret not buying a Fragonard engraving. It was quite fetching (in all ways). Maybe another time. Then last time i found the perfect 18th century medical text for my son and then said the bad words "I will get it when we walk back this way tonight. Yes, it was gone. Instinct and timing is everything when shopping the Paris stalls and shops. Next time.XO

  6. How wonderful I am sure this is the market my Aunt and Uncle took us all to visit. I was in my 20's and they flew us all over from England.

We stayed at the Hotel Meurice, visited the market (there was a woman singing Piaf where we stopped for lunch), I tried my first French onion soup, we were driven around Montmartre in a stretch limo, and she shopped at Galleries Lafayette.

We had been away from Australia for only a few weeks, all my clothes were from Kmart, I was incredibly overawed and fell in love of course with Paris.

They opened up a world I had never seen....we had dinner on a boat that went up the Seine and I remember having Bombe Alaska and an American lady saying "Look they copied our statue"

I never knew where the market was, thank you thank you, so many vivid memories x
PS My Mum bought a tiny toy Monkey similar to the one from The Phantom of the Opera which we had seen the previous week in London. It wound up and played cymbals.

  9. Ah, this is like a little glimpse back into my only fleeting visit to Paris. The market was one of the highlights for me. These shots make me want to dive back into the winding, convoluted alleys and to lose myself in the shiny baubles and objets.

  13. I would get crazy over there and I think I should get a huge cargo shipping...if I had the money.
I saw a thumbnail yesterday that you had a post something about Aki Kaurismäki but here was nothing about it, maybe I saw wrong!
    Have a nice weekend.
