Burano - Doorways and Candy Striped Curtains


All photos were taken on the Island of Burano - Carla Coulson

These photos of Burano's Doorways and the fabulous striped curtains that hang between a Venetian home and the street were taken two summers ago. I took my sister and her daughters to this magical island of colour just to see the coloured houses and stroll around the quiet canals. The weather is vastly different this visit but the colourful houses remain as joyful as always.

When I have my Italian home one day I will have a cheeky curtain hanging in the doorway!

    Hi Carla, these houses really brightened my day. Here I am in summer in Austalia and we haven't really had one yet. So far we've had some days closer to winter?! We have had one really hot day in the last week. I could do with a dose of Burano's brightness xxCorrina

    Hi Carla
    Burano was my favourite outer island in Venice.. Sadly I didn't make it their last trip. I only had 24 hours for all of Venice.. Your fabulous shots are serving to remind me of this regret!! I don't recall the striped curtains from my first visit..

    I can only imagine the photoshoot possibilities on that colorful island. I love those turquoises, blues, and yellows all in a row, and the striped curtains are the perfect coastal touch!
