My Local Parisian Flower Market

It's almost the weekend and tomorrow I am off to do one of the things I love most in Paris and that is to buy my flowers!  I go to my local market Marche Baudoyer to the stall run by the fabulous Carole (see above) in the 4th. Carole always has a sea of flowers in a myriad of colours and scents and it certainly beats lining up for the veges.

Some of my favourites are peonies and sweet peas. The sweet peas remind me of my dear dad. When I was growing up it was one of his prefered flowers to cover our back fence with and the scent was incredible. Having parents who loved their garden with a passion has rubbed off on me. I am still dreaming of the garden but for now I am happy to visit my local market and return home with an armful of flowers..

Have a colourful weekend.

Nothing could go wrong when a weekend has an armful peonies and sweet peas Carla. Peonies are my fav and sweet peas bring back plenty of childhood memories.......we used to pick them on the way home from school and present to our mother as a hand bouquet. Love the smell to this day. Enjoy the weekend. Much love to both. XOXO

I love Paris' markets! I remember we went to a Sunday morning market once, and my aunt bought lilies and I tasted the most wonderful butter in the world. :D

Those flowers are lovely!

Oh how I would love to experience that flower marche! We don't have anything like that where I live (Sydney would be the closest flower market). However, there is a store about 30mins drive away called Shady Fig- it's a florist with a difference- she also sells unusual gifts/homewares/garden paraphenalia. When you go in the smells instantly relax you- and its always cool in there. I love her range of organic cleaning products and handmade soaps with aroma therapy.mmm xxCorrina

Peonies & sweet peas are favourites of mine too! I have this lovely elderly gentleman who comes into my work & brings me bunches of sweet peas & the smell is delicious! This week he brought me dahlias.

A beautiful tease, I can smell the delightful scents of the flowers on a grey drab wintery morning.

Oh Peonies!!!! My favourite too - in a simple vase next to my bed to enjoy the scent when I wake up each morning!! Lucky you! My Mom always grows sweetpeas and I get a bunch for my birthday in September. When I lived in the States she would still pick me a bunch and post a photo to me (in the "old" days before e-mail)!! Enjoy your lovely flowers!! Cath

flowers brighten the house and the heart, especially when it is so grey out as it is today in Brussels.
I do the same on the Saturday market at Place Flagey in Brussels. I wrote about it today but have reserved the flower pics for a next posting!

Is Badoyer behind the Hôtel de Ville? Oh I have only found it open once, they had a very hunky paella guy that I hear is no longer there. :(

I can' stop photographing the flower shops and markets either. They are a feast for the eyes. Lucky you having them in your home every week.
Hugs,
V

PS Luis is a friend of mine as well! :)

I love this post Carla. Not only is the photo gorgeous, but your story about the sweetpeas has me dreaming of planting my own! I need to see if I can get them to grow here in my little backyard. We get a lot of sun so not sure if I can, but I'm going to try. I can smell them now! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

These images make me weak in the knees, Carla! I will absolutely visit her market on my next trip. We have some lovely flower markets but none that quite compare to those in Paris!

Fresh flowers in the house make it a home. I haven't thought of sweet peas for years. My mother used to grow them......I'll see if I can purchase a packet of seed today while they are fresh in my mind.

P.S. Been away from my computer this week so I'm catching up this morning- time is too tight.
