Carla Loves....Deborah Turbeville

I have loved Deborah Turbeville's photography since the first time I spotted her images
in Vogue Italia and her interior images in Casa Vogue.  Her fashion images are like no-one elses.
Women are clad in gossamer dreams. Beautiful, ethereal, poignant and always shot in dusty 'lived in' locations. Bring on the soft focus!!

I remember when I found her book Past Imperfect at my local bookstore I nearly passed out. It has since become one of my favourite inspiration books. Her new book The Fashion Pictures is winging its way to me and  I can't wait for it to arrive. The introduction is written by one of the world's most stylish women, the fabulous Franca Sozzani editor of Vogue Italia..Boy, does she know a thing or two about fashion!!

What books are you reading??

  1. How odd that you should mention her. I was just thinking of Deborah Turbeville yesterday. When I first came across her work in the early 80's I disliked it (or at the very least I was ambivalent). But now I like it a lot. I'll have to see if I can find her book.

  4. Hi Carla. Have you seen the work of Lillian Bassman? what this 90 year old can do with first wet lab but now the computer is amazing. I bought one of her books last year, WOMEN. It's full of inspiration.

Very eager to answer your question because I am reading my sons book: "Appointment in Milano" by Warren Dekko. It s about the fashion scene ! I think you would like it a lot.
