A Wedding, A heatwave and Southern Italy

Gabriella and her father wait outside the church

Gabriella disappears into the church

The last minutes before Gabriella joins Peppe at the altar.
Marcello, Vito, Alessia and Maria Julia lead the way

My 'simpatico' brother-in-law, Peppe and his beautiful wife were married last weekend in Puglia in record 40 degree heat in their local church. Whilst their photographers covered the wedding I was fortunate to take some snaps around the edges. What a treat!

We all risked melting or fainting but the beautiful Gabriella bursting with happiness remained calm. Here are  some pics of her on the way to the altar with her father and her page boys and girls. Aren't they the cutest. Marcello, Vito, Alessia and Maria Julia.

All pics taken on my Leica M8 using natural light (a little continuous light borrowed from the photographers set-up in the church,,thanks)..

  9. Nice shots, I like b&w at weddings. I pick up some today from the processor. Took them with a Contax AX and an 85/1.4. Looking forward to seeing what I got.

  11. We were lucky to have my cousin taking hundreds of candid shots at our wedding. Of these there are about a dozen that are my all time favorites, yours will be that for this beautiful family.

For someone on the outskirts you created something to treasure...

    ciao Lisa

  12. Aww, weddings are so wonderful, and I love that you did these in black and white. The Bride is gorgeous - i love the shot of her disappearing into the church with her pristine gown contrasting the chippy door. The children are SO sweet!
Happy Autumn, Carla! The winds will change soon and brisk mornings and night are on their way.

  15. All Italian weddings should be shot in black and white (now digitally converted of course). So fifties. Fabulous, and love her cool dad's shoes. Congratulations.
